The Compaq 1850R is a space
saving, high performance, full-featured rack server designed to meet
the needs of Internet Service Providers, corporate data centers and
remote sites. The new 500 MHz Pentium III processor and Ultra2 technologies
are incorporated into this design to offer customers state-of-the-art
performance and phenomenal expandability in a rack optimized server.
The new Ultra2 drive cage supports up to four 1" Ultra2 drives,
one more than the previous Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 models. With the addition
of the new 2 x 1" Ultra2 drive cage option designed to fit into
the removable media area, this new server can support up to six 1"
Ultra2 drives offering the customer unheard of drive expansion in
a 3U server. In addition to enhanced performance and expandability,
this server now comes standard with 128MB of 100MHz registered ECC
SDRAM DIMM memory and Ultra2 array controller support. All the remaining
features of the existing ProLiant 1850R are maintained including dual
processor capability, 100MHz GTL bus architecture, Integrated Dual
Channel Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 controller, 4 full-length slots, tool-free
in-rack accessibility to major components and Compaq manageability
